CKD – Curing Kidney by Ayurved

Kidney dysfunction, particularly Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), is a condition that can deeply impact your overall health. It’s crucial to address this issue with care, and Ayurveda offers some insightful approaches. Broadly, kidney dysfunction can be classified into two types:

1. **Accumulation of Toxins in the Kidney**
2. **Autoimmune Nephropathy**

The first type, where toxins accumulate in the kidneys, is generally more straightforward to manage. Here, the focus is on cleansing and rejuvenating the kidneys using natural remedies that have been part of Ayurvedic wisdom for centuries. Below is a holistic approach that can be considered to support kidney health naturally:

### Suggested Ayurvedic Approach for Kidney Detoxification

1. **Herbal Arks (Extracts):**
A combination of Chicory (Kasni) Ark, Makoy Ark, Ark Badayan, and the Ark or Swaras (juice) of Punarnava can be beneficial. You might consider mixing 20 ml of each extract and consuming it twice daily, in the morning and evening. This blend is believed to support kidney function by promoting detoxification and reducing inflammation.

2. **Panchsakar/Panchaharan Churna:**
Maintaining digestive health is vital in managing kidney issues. Taking one or two teaspoons of Panchsakar Churna with warm water after meals may help in keeping the stomach clean and supporting overall digestive health, which indirectly benefits the kidneys.

3. **Punarnavashtak Kwath Powder/Churna:**
Punarnava is well-regarded in Ayurveda for its diuretic properties. Preparing a decoction from Punarnavashtak Kwath powder, filtering it, and drinking it twice a day might support kidney function by encouraging the removal of excess fluids and toxins from the body.

4. **Gokshuradi Powder/Churna:**
Gokshura is another herb that is traditionally used to support kidney health. You could take one spoon of this powder with warm water, twice a day. If the taste is not to your liking, you might consider mixing it with Punarnavashtak Churna (as mentioned above) and preparing a decoction of both together.

5. **Amalaki Rasayan:**
Amalaki or Indian Gooseberry is rich in Vitamin C and other antioxidants. You may find it helpful to take 60 grams of Amalaki Rasayan, divided into 60 small packets (puriyas), with fresh water twice daily. This could help in boosting immunity and supporting overall kidney health.

6. **Chandraprabha Vati:**
Chandraprabha Vati is a classical Ayurvedic formulation that is often recommended for urinary and kidney issues. Taking two tablets twice daily with fresh water might support urinary function and help in balancing the body’s internal systems.

7. **Dialysis Rasayan Churna:**
This specific formulation might be beneficial for those undergoing dialysis or looking to support their kidneys. Consuming one packet of this churna with warm water twice daily could offer some relief and support in managing kidney health.

### Dietary and Lifestyle Suggestions for Kidney Health

Diet plays a crucial role in managing kidney health. Here are some suggestions that you might find helpful:

1. **Barley Porridge (Jau ka Daliya):**
Consider eating barley porridge when you feel hungry. Unlike other grains, barley is gentle on the kidneys and may help in managing fluid balance in the body.

2. **Soaked Raisins in Milk:**
Raisins soaked in milk overnight might be a gentle and nourishing option to include in your diet. This combination can provide energy and essential nutrients without putting too much strain on the kidneys.

3. **Coriander Leaf Juice:**
Drinking 20 ml of fresh coriander leaf juice (Dhaniya Patta Swaras) in the morning could be beneficial. Coriander is known for its detoxifying properties and may help in supporting kidney function.

4. **Boiled Food:**
Sticking to boiled food without oil and spices might be a good idea. This type of diet is easier on the kidneys and may help in reducing the workload on these vital organs.

5. **Alternative Drinks:**
If you’re looking for something else to drink, you might consider a decoction of corn hair or coconut water. Both are considered gentle and hydrating, which could support kidney health.

6. **Punarnava as a Vegetable:**
Cooking Punarnava (Boerhavia diffusa) as a vegetable and consuming it twice daily might be beneficial. This herb is renowned in Ayurveda for its kidney-supporting properties.

7. **Warm Water Bath:**
Spending one hour daily in a warm water bath, deep enough to cover your chest, might also support kidney health. This practice may help in promoting relaxation and encouraging circulation.

### Addressing Autoimmune Nephropathy

Autoimmune Nephropathy is more complex and requires a tailored approach based on individual immunological assessments. If the suggested regimen doesn’t seem to yield the desired results, it might be advisable to undergo an Immunological Essay. This test could provide insights into the specific immune responses affecting the kidneys, allowing for a more customized treatment plan.

### Final Thoughts

Kidney health is essential for overall well-being, and taking a natural approach with Ayurvedic remedies might offer gentle support. However, it’s crucial to monitor your progress and adjust the regimen as needed. Always consider consulting with a healthcare professional or an Ayurvedic practitioner before starting any new treatment, especially if you have underlying health conditions.

By adopting these suggestions, you may find a supportive path toward better kidney health. Remember, each individual is unique, and what works for one may need to be tailored for another. It’s all about finding the right balance and making informed choices for your well-being.
